DENTAL CHECKUPS & TEETH CLEANINGS
The importance of your biannual dental checkups and teeth cleanings cannot be overstated. Even people who brush and floss their teeth every day might end up missing a few spots, allowing plaque and tartar to accumulate. A professional teeth cleaning is the most reliable way to have plaque and tartar deposits removed before they can cause lasting damage to your oral health.
Dr. Nguyen is proud to perform his own dental cleanings, and he has spared no expense with the oral hygiene instruments he uses for the job. He’ll always be very gentle during the cleaning process and will take whatever steps are needed to help you stay comfortable.
Of course, he will also keep an eye out for cavities and other issues that you may not have noticed on your own. If any problems require professional intervention, he’ll let you know what treatment options are available and schedule follow-up appointments if necessary.

GUM DISEASE TREATMENT
When you leave gum disease untreated for too long, you could end up losing your teeth. Thanks to being taught by skilled periodontists, Dr. Nguyen can treat gum disease with a deep cleaning, also known as scaling and root planing. All the plaque and tartar above and below your gumline will be removed, and the roots of your teeth will be smoothed out to aid with gum reattachment. We may also prescribe antibiotic therapy in conjunction with your deep cleaning.

ORAL CANCER SCREENING
You may not realize this, but an oral cancer screening is a normal part of every dental checkup. When we’re examining your mouth, we’ll check for any suspicious symptoms, such as a white or reddish patch on your soft oral tissues. If there’s any reason to believe you might have oral cancer, we’ll inform you immediately and explain what your next steps for additional testing should be. Your odds of surviving oral cancer will be much greater if the disease is caught early.

FLUORIDE TREATMENT
It’s no secret that fluoride is considered essential for protecting your teeth from cavities. If we find that your risk for dental decay is higher than normal, we may perform a quick fluoride treatment as part of your preventive dentistry care. We’ll simply place a concentrated fluoride gel or varnish on your teeth. Once the fluoride has been absorbed, it will strengthen your enamel and make it less susceptible to harmful bacteria attacks.

NIGHTGUARDS FOR BRUXISM
People with bruxism often grind their teeth while they’re asleep. If we examine your teeth and find that they’re more worn down than they should be, it likely means that you’re suffering from bruxism. So, what can you do to protect your smile at night? In many cases, the answer is as simple as wearing one of our customized nightguards. The oral appliance will stop the upper and lower rows of teeth from making direct contact and damaging each other throughout the night.
